Meet the LittleOak family: healthy starts and go karts -<br> a conversation with Stu

Despite their different backgrounds and areas of expertise, every member of our team shares a common passion for families. We believe that every child – no matter where they live – should have access to the very best nutrition to grow and thrive. To us, this is the very best reason to come to work every day. Today, we’d like to introduce you to another member of our team: meet Stu, our Chief Financial Officer at LittleOak and dad to a little girl, four and a half years old. As our CFO, Stu’s day-to-day involves managing LittleOak’s finances and finding new opportunities for us to deliver our beautiful goat milks to more and more mums and dads. After all, we’re on a mission to nourish the current and future generations with the very best nutrition.

And for Stu, the same goes. His favourite thing about our little company is “knowing we create something amazing.” Prior to LittleOak, Stu worked for a lot of large FMCG companies that made processed food. “It always jarred with me,” he said. “There was always that internal conflict of the company mission versus my personal belief. At LittleOak, we create an amazing product and it's great to know we’re doing good things for people and their children.”

We couldn’t agree more. As a team of mums and dads, we feel incredibly lucky to be working towards something that makes a real difference. Like we always say, we want to be more than just an infant nutrition company; we want to make the world a better place for families.

As a full-time working dad, Stu says he’s always been very busy during the week. “By eight AM I’m into my emails and just forget about time. And before you know it it's the end of the day,” he said. “That’s why the flexibility at LittleOak is really great. We can all work on different schedules and do what works best for our families.” As a team of parents, we understand the juggle of balancing a career with parenthood, which is why we ensure our team works in ways that suit their lifestyles. We have parents who work night shifts, parents who work part-time or weekends, and parents who work fully remote. As for Stu, he always blocks out time with his daughter so they can spend real quality time together. Lately, he’s been taking his daughter go karting. “She loves it. She’s just going wild on the track – sliding, overtaking people. She came out with a massive smile, and we went back out the next week.”

With a little one of his own at home, Stu says that being a working parent really influences the way he thinks about our product. “My daughter struggled taking standard formula and I know she would’ve gotten more quality sleep if we had discovered LittleOak...I would’ve too,” he said. “Having a healthy, happy baby is so important. It means there’s less stress...fewer sick days.... we’ve created something amazing and it’s rewarding to know we’re doing good things for people and their children.”

A word from Stu

When chatting with Stu about his background, his role at LittleOak and his daughter, there was one point that truly stood out – the crucial role of nutrition in setting our little ones up for success. Having grown up during the boom of processed foods in the 80s, Stu’s passionate about our “less is more” mantra. We might say it all the time, but when you have something as beautiful and nourishing as fresh whole goat milk, the less you do to it, the better. Like Stu says, “We all want to set up our kids for success and that starts with great nutrition. It leads to better sleep, concentration, a better temperament...at LittleOak that’s our core focus. We know that less is more, and with less processing and less ingredients, we really set that strong foundation.”
